Ego Driven Madness

"He could change if he wanted to,"

we whisper as he walks by

Wearing all he owns on him.

We never weigh the why.

Would we be so quick to judge

if our dreams just woke up dead?

Left with nothing for us,

but the voices in our head.

Chorus:

It's that ego driven madness.

The pride that takes the fall

To give our sin the peace of mind

to hide behind these walls.

We read it in the paper.

Undesirable's going down!

Hail the politicians war cry

for a new law to be found.

In our cruel considerations

we crack a heartless whip

Never seeing all the reasons

it could be us instead of him.

Chorus:

It's that ego driven madness.

The pride that takes the fall

To give our sin the peace of mind

to hide behind these walls.

Bridge

When he was a young man

He looked a lot like you

Check your own reflection

In his eyes and get a clue.

Face to face with your creator,

would you rather stand and say

You tried to save a vagrants life?

Or left him dead to lay.

All that righteous indignation

Got you singing your own praise

Clamour sanity of phony

Of your own unrighteous gaze.

Chorus:

It's that ego driven madness.

The pride that takes the fall

To give our sin the peace of mind

to hide behind these walls.

He could change if he wanted to

We whisper as he walks by...
